Two Great Hotels in Nashville Where You Can Have Your Wedding
There are two wonderful hotels in the downtown Nashville area where many couples choose to have their weddings every year. Both hotels are within a couple of miles from each other. Location is not the only thing they have in common. They both have very interesting histories. What great places to have a wedding and the following reception. Read on to learn more about what these two hotels have to offer.
The Hermitage Hotel is one great choice for a wedding location in Nashville. When you say the Hermitage, it can be a bit confusing since there is also the Hermitage, which is the home of President Andrew Jackson. There is a connection. The hotel was named after the President as well. But the home is located out east of Nashville, and the hotel is located near the heart of the city of Nashville. Besides the connection with President Jackson, the doors of this hotel has seen many presidents and other celebrities past and present pass through. The veranda is the typical spot for weddings with the reception just across the hotel lobby in a beautiful hall.
Another great possibility for a Nashville wedding hotel is Union Station Hotel. This was Nashville’s train station many years ago. Vibrant and alive for so long, when the train traveling business declined, so did Union Station. Sad to think of it now, but at one time the thought was the best thing to do was to tear the deteriorating building down. Good thing that didn’t happen. The building has changed hands more than once but things have settled down now and the owners have invested many millions of dollars into restoring the building.
In addition to being a hotel for guests from all over the world visiting Nashville, the building is also well suited as a location for Nashville weddings. For a few years, weddings were often held in the lobby by the fireplace. This is less frequent now, since wandering guests could “join” the wedding. The lobby is sometimes set up for receptions, though there are other rooms for that as well. Ceremonies often take place in the Majors Room just off the lobby.
