Product Comparison: Howard Leight Impact Sports vs. Peltor 6S Tactical

Both Peltor and Howard Leight as companies have not too many rivals when it comes to ear protection. With many years of delivering quality products to avid shooters everywhere, they are the ones that are best suited to produce cheap but high quality electronic ear muffs. Both the Howard Leight Impact Sports ear protectors and the Peltor 6S Tactical look very similar when placed side by side, but if you look a little bit closer you will start to see differences between the two. So what one is best?

Starting with how well they function, on paper the Howard Leight has the Peltor beat when it comes to reducing noise. With a noise reduction rating of 22 and able to block out sounds that are over 84 dB, the Sports Impact earmuff trumps the Peltor’s 20 NRR. The Peltor is ever so slightly a thinner model, as can be gleamed from the 6S moniker which stands for 6Slimline. So if you want the best model on performance alone then the Howard Leight is the one to go for.

Next is the issue of compactness – which is the smaller and lighter model? Both models fold up into a compact ball so that you can easily pop them into your bag, but the Peltor Tac6 is a little bit smaller weighing in at 8oz versus the Sports Impact’s 9.8oz – so it is noticeable lighter on your head.

The Peltor does however have the advantage when it comes to battery life, trouncing the Howard Leight model with over two hundred hours of running time compared to the 140 hours use of the Sports Impact R-01526.

All in all, while the Tactical runs a lot longer than the Sports Impact, in truth the Howard Leight R-01526 ear safety headphones are the better model. It is superior performance wise and it also offers a lot more features than its rival. Check it out in stores now.
